 - SSNI 2013

20 - 22 September, 2013 - Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal

Within the International Conference on Neural Computation Theory and Applications - NCTA 2013

Leslie Smith
University of Stirling
United Kingdom

Current interdisciplinary research involving computer scientists and neuroscientists has produced many innovative results in the area of computational intelligence. This special session aims at bringing together researchers that are working toward developing better computational techniques and systems through incorporating biologically based, naturally occurring and neural techniques, and toward improving the understanding of neural systems by modelling them both in software and in hardware. This area of research capitalizes on the insights gained by applying new techniques based on biology and naturally occurring systems to appropriate problems in a wide range of disciplines, from understanding neural systems to control systems to signal processing to assisting dementia diagnosis, from time series prediction to computational neuroscience.
Knowledge required to address problems in this field encompasses a wide range of research topics, from computational neuroscience to pattern recognition to signal processing, control systems and the application of neural networks, genetic algorithms and decision techniques, involving computational models and analytical tools.
